I said generic. Should I have said lazy or sheep-like ?

Isn't this the exact same criticism often leveled against the "SZ look"? Any subculture is going to look homogeneous from an superficial outside perspective. But those within the subculture are able to appreciate the subtle differences that makes each person special within an aesthetic.
Anyway, this conversation is clearly going nowhere, so I invite purplekicks to stick around and contribute to other areas of the forum. A quick glance at your blog reveals a passion and creativity (looks like you make much of your own stuff?) for fashion that I hope you will share with the board despite your rather un-warm welcome. Other users have risen from the ashes after being torn apart on WAYWT (because apparently a single picture tells us everything we need to know about your intentions/personality/soul). So I hope you will find it worth it to stick around as SZ can be a wonderfully rewarding place.

The reason why one sees homogeneity when there's diversity is mainly a complete lack of interest for the aforementioned subculture. Which is not a crime. When discovering SZ WAYWT, a friend of mine immediately saw it as a bunch of insecure males in dark uniforms worshipping an almost fascist embodiment of the Man. I can understand his point of view. And I willingly admit that in its weakest hours this thread is exactly what he describes -plus the dick-flaps- , and is generic, and boring.
But same thing when I look at you, Purplekicks : the only thing I see is the Lady Gaga in you, and I can't say that I'm very curious about the universe conveyed by the character, or her approach of fashion. So why should I dig deeper and try to discover what is so special in the way you do it ?
Because of some moral obligation to discover the richness hidden in every human being ?
Or out of some sociological interest ?
I simply don't care about you and what you're wearing ; more frankly I deeply dislike the latter. I don't feel guilty for that and I don't have to. I don't mean to cause you grief but i'm not here either to give you love and understanding, just because you ask me to.Last edited by Mail-Moth; 08-09-2010, 02:29 AM.I can see a hat, I can see a cat,

Christian : I'd say it's Golden hair and the Pirate. And the problem is not the pieces they're wearing, it's what they do with them.
Except for the yellow diving mask maybe. This looks beyond repair.
I could perfectly imagine Heirloom wearing those high heeled tabis and not looking silly, for example. As for the piecs worn by the guy on the left, they seem quite harmless taken individually. I don't see clearly his top, though. But look at the result.
People on the second row are only partly visible, so it's impossible to tell. The girl in the center may wear a nice summer outfit, though. Otherwise the difference between both is that one row is here to see the show and the other one to be it.I can see a hat, I can see a cat,
I can see a man with a baseball bat.
