I wouldn't go that far! But I know what you mean.
Its interesting stuff though.
"A story indicative of the rise in global significance of shoe polish is told by Jean (Gertrude) Williams, a New Zealander who lived in Japan during the Allied occupation straight after World War II. American soldiers were then finding the dullness of their boots and shoes to be a handicap when trying to win the affections of Japanese women.[10]
When the British Commonwealth Occupation Forces arrived in Japan—all with boots polished to a degree not known in the U.S. forces—the G.I.s were more conscious than ever of their feet. The secret was found to rest not only in spit and polish, but in the superior Australian boot polish, a commodity which was soon exchanged with the Americans on a fluctuating basis of so many packets of cigarettes for one can of Kiwi boot polish."
Thats fashion for you right there :)

I take care of what I consider my footwear needs - oxfords and monkstraps for business situations, (and sneakers for athletic ones). I don't particularly like dress footwear, so I'd like to buy them as infrequently as possible, which means taking care of the shoes I have.
As far as my desires go, although they are sometimes transient, I purchase with the thought of being able to wear them 40 years from now and look like a mad old fool. Nothing lasts that long without careful attention. My own body probably won't hold up for 40 more years without meticulous care, so why should I expect my shoes to? Because I have somewhat of an idea of how I would like my clothing (and shoes) to fit into my life in a broad and far-reaching sense, I'll do everything I can to protect them now, which includes specialized footwear for rain and snowstorms. Maybe the shoes are indestructible, maybe not, but I'm not about to push them to the limit, deliberately or otherwise, to find out.An artist is not paid for his labor, but for his vision. - James Whistler

bsr best fit i have seen from you,
this one seems to flatter your body more than your others, because the carol sleeves are long this shorter body owrks better than your long coat and long sleeves.
What ever i like the range of colours also, the shoes work far better here than the obvious poell footwear. Anyway i really like this one, and that is the jacket hopefully i will own.

I may be burnt in public, but I don't like this one, BSR.
The turtleneck is a good idea but the color doesn't do justice to your leather, which is very beautiful but which color must be a nightmare to match (good call on the jeans though, they are the perfect hue to go with it). Anyway the top is too dark (or the leather too light, as you wish).
MM.'s Aldens (if I am right) are also too slick to go with all that "distressed/blingpovera" attire.
In a word, I liked the one before better, this one is "le cul entre deux chaises" as we say :)
