I am going to blow this up further, since we haven't had a good fight on SZ in a while.
I was talking to Laika the other day and she was wondering out loud why her friends tend to be male. And I said that I think it's because women tend to be petty, while men are more generous. Your comment is the kind of thing that confirms my opinion. And I've seen it from various women, time and again - the remarks they make about other women's appearance are so minute and inconsequential that they sometimes jolt me. Maybe it's the immense pressure that society puts on women to look beautiful to the degree that guys would never do - I don't know, but it is off-putting for me and pitiful too. I suppose it's a similar reaction to that of Veronique Branquinho's who wants her man not to be too interested in fashion, multiplied by a factor of 1000.
I'm afraid I'm not in the same boat as Laika. Most of my friends are actually women, not men. I've never had problems with women liking me. You see, after 5 minutes of conversation, whatever preconceptions they may've had, dissipate. And that's because they come to realize that there is no threat here. I'm not at all suggesting anyone here is feeling this way toward me. MonaDahl strikes me as a cool woman who's not afraid to have an opinion. And I bet if we were to ever meet, our friendship would have us staying up this late, painting each other's nails, and trash-talkin' you boys like there was no tomorrow...
i'm not going to point out someone's french manicure because i don't get my nails done. mona, on the other hand, does, and would apparently never pair them with such an outfit. the fact that she's able to compare herself puts her in a position to be more critical i believe. i dont think she was being petty. no offense, but i just think that women are just intrinsically disposed to being more critical of other women. 98% of my friends are female, so i feel that i can say this with a measure of confidence. quite frankly mona if you had complimented her outfit i'd have pegged you as a rug muncher.
No need to call you out, but im pretty sure you made a direct comment about a members face the other day. I just think the ladies should be allowed to go at it the same way the males do. I'm not taking sides here, simply saying if Mona thinks that interest1's nails don't match the deathly ensemble, let her speak it.
But I want to be killed by hand well taken care of!
“You know,” he says, with a resilient smile, “it is a hard world for poets.”

Do you really think I was in earnest?! Jesus, I even said in a subsequent post that I was pulling hommie's leg.

not that my opinion is of any importance, but i agree with you. all these superficial details do add to an outfit. it may not be the outfit but it certainly can make the outfit work or conversely make it look completely unnatural. i could have easily called out faust just as he called out homme de guerre, however i foresaw the reaction being even greater than the one which you created. but then again i try to keep my comments to myself.
you want to say something about my face, bitch?

When that day comes, I think we all wish for that zamb!
I knew you were kidding Faust, it was just an example of where these types of comments can go. You brought up a very good point about women and the way they view each other, but I just don't feel like that is the case right now.
No. There is only one picture of my face on the Internet. I am not ready for fame just yet. I am a private person in real life. I like my own little corner of the universe, my own little planet, like a certain member of royalty with a cape and a sword in a certain children's book that is really a book for adults.

^certainly if anything we can say is petty it's the treatment of HDG... I think I'm the only person who feels pity for that guy. I hope he finds himself!
I think it's undeserved too. Whatever his motivations for coming here, aside from the Classifieds issue (which seems to have been cleared up by now) he's been nothing but pleasant and respectful.

women can be petty. over nails. males. f/w sales. mona's feedback is generally positive and constructive so i doubt pettiness was her intent. in other areas of the forum the women collective are usually quite supportive of each other and the female aesthetic here so im not sure i would agree with faust's position in the context of this forum. but in other realms of society and in the case of merz friend, yes sometimes you get the haters for sure. on lookbook every girl gushes over every other girl and all those little hoe-bags typically dress horribly so there i just proved both sides ;)
great stuff from interest1 though, just noticing it now!!
