These are a pair of rare Carol Christian Poell SAFE boots.
They are Object Dyed Shoes, Olive in colour with a rubber band detail.
They are the 5th pair in a run of only 53.
I bought them from Maxfield in LA on the 23 April 2010 and I've only actually worn them a couple of times.
The right boot appears a little shinier than the other on account of it having been handled by Maxfield customers while it was on display. According to the Maxfield Sales Person, this will even itself out in time.
These boots are size 11, which I am sure means UK11 and therefore US12. They felt far too big for my dainty little size 9 feet, but I was assured by the Maxfield Sales Person that the boots looked great.
So away I trotted in the Emperor's new boots, whistling to myself in oblivious bliss.
2 days later, the bubble burst when a total stranger pointed out that my shoes looked as though they belonged to a bigger-footed person than I. What was I thinking?
The Sales Person in Maxfield seemed like a lovely guy, but he was absolutely ruthless. He capitalised on my apparent sunstroke and sold me a pair of high-end designer clown shoes. I may have been a fool for buying them, but his behaviour was akin to doing a bad tattoo on a drunk guy!
I was refused a refund or exchange on account of having worn them.
Thanks Maxfield. I hope you enjoy spending my money as much as I didn't.
I've since found another pair that actually fit me and I am delighted with them. If you're a UK11, you will experience that same delight with these. If you are not, I recommend not bidding on these and waiting until you find a pair that fits you.
I wouldn't last 5 minutes on the shop floor at Maxfield but eBay's statistics show that unlike certain upscale designer department stores on Melrose in Los Angeles, I give 100 percent customer satisfaction.
