Growing a top-knot was more or less the best styling decision of my life. It was particularly hard, as the transitional stage (long but not long enough) looked pretty awful because of my hair's somewhat curly appearance, but it was more than rewarding.

And Mike I think it looks great. Been doing the same lately, just with more hair as mine grew back. What lenght were you cut to on the sides? I constatly get this haircut but I'm struggling to find the lenght on sides that I'll like. Last time going too short ended up in being nicknamed "nazi" for two weeks :C

I am pleased to say that after initially lacking required patience, I now have some dreads which are coming along nicely.

In terms of checkpoint lengths, I have 3 main ones :
1. just above eyebrows or thereabouts in a mop style. (Which I've nearly reached now)

2. Shoulder length (about a year from now)

3 worthwhile ponytail (as it is possible to have a pathetic ponytail before shoulder length if u force it lol)

Been wearing my hair in a plait, or plaited pigtails every now and again. Bit of variety instead of just wearing it in a top knot all te time.

I have very straight, thin and long hair. I started to dye them brown 6 month ago, I think. I did this because I didn't really had a haircoulor.. something between blonde and brown.
Finally I found a way to curl my hair with the right curling iron :) that's a style I love!
