          And from NYT:
"Guys can always count on Patrik Ervell for a slim-fitting suit (not too tight) and the perfect club-collar shirt. But Ervell also has a thing for developing new fabrics and technical processes, and last week he was kind enough to let us into his studio (to see him and his dog Lucy) as he prepared his spring 2010 show. He explained that he wanted to discover a special way of playing with fabric.

“I came upon the idea by trying to think of new American motifs,” Ervell said. “Cotton stained by rust or by copper patina felt American to me. And it feels like a good time to use a kind of decay as a central motif for the collection. I wanted to try something completely new, something I’d never seen before. It took a fair amount of experimentation and trial and error to figure out the best way of getting the metal to oxidize properly onto the fabric.”

Ervell’s method of staining cloth with iron and copper oxide was very labor intensive and involved spreading out tiny metal shavings on the fabric, soaking it in a saline solution, then leaving it to sit for a week. Did it all work out? We certainly think so. Fresh from the runway, here (above) are the results of Ervell’s fashion lab experiments. "

I liked the oxidization concept and the results it yielded, but i still think his work is lacking..........
“You know,” he says, with a resilient smile, “it is a hard world for poets.”

I really like this, but I've always been a fan of Ervell. This is a big improvement from F/W 10 which I sorta didn't get. I also appreciate Ervell's approach. He takes one concept (last season was womenswear, before that stripes, before that gold fire-proof foil) each season and explores it through the repertoire and aesthetic he has created. It may be a simple approach, but you know what you are going to get and if you appreciate his repertoire and fit then he offers interesting variations to look forward to each season. Of course, if you don't like his aesthetic, putting rust on it this season isn't going to change your mind.

I don't know why you do that either, Casey :-) At least you post collections, that's already something.

Hehe, I guess I just post stuff I like to try to create some discussion, even if I know it probably won't be received favorably.

I imagine that this is very similar to what they sell in H + M

Many fantastic pieces, he does a great rendition of the emotional male, the colours are quite something too. Very wimsical and reminds me of Ann D's fall 2008.

Oh and re: not being the first to use with the 'rust idea', I don't think that matters, he is using it to great advantage here and in using this method he keeps his collection interesting to more textile driven fashion people.

I think that these designs have actually taken all the beauty out of the concept of "rust" or "decay"

To me these 2 words signify a richness and a depth

Whereas the way he has used them seems shallow , wafer thin and frigid.

A mere patina of rust on a preppy , prissy white-shirt rather than a diving into and celebration of it.

You know I welcome that. Anyway, my problem with this guy is that all his concepts are failures in my opinion. For example, he prides himself on unique, techy fabrics, but I haven't seen anything even remotely interesting in that regard. And without these concepts, his clothes is... welll, expensive H&M. He should take lessons from Stephan Schneider.

He is still the main proffesor at fashion department of the University of Arts in Berlin. So that could be possible actually ;-) Anyway, I think this Ervell collection is kinda OK, especially that look with short jeans jacket (and I have to say that this clothes on your pictures casem look much better than on those official photos). BUT the problem with his clothes is as far as I noticed that you're getting bored by them after few weeks...
