    Neil Barret F/W 09

Surprised this has gone under the radar. Possibly my favorite Milan collection so far.

It's interesting what he did with the front portions of the coats.

Is it me or does the whole atmosphere of the show looking extremely boring? Something about the lighting that is just putting me to sleep...

I've never understood the context or direction of Neil Barrett. I'm consistently at a loss - it always feels like Surface 2 Air or any other mid-level Barney's brand that are all just design-mills pumping out "this is a desirable coat for $460 version 128" that had the audacity to put on its own full-on runway show often enough that eventually people believed it just was.

eeewww... gross!!! the worst NB collection to date... looks like his comfy formulas are running out and he's trying too hard to do something different but resulting to be too derivative... of yohji as already mentioned... of cdg, even raf...

used to like his stuff... quite a few seasons ago... recent stuff have just been riding on the formulas worked out then... and with this jumping on the band wagon like everyone else getting zaha hadid to do his tokyo store... sigh... so predictable...

Two pieces that I like, otherwise not a fan.

Exactly. This has always been my view of NB. Consistently "safe" collections that don't go in too many directions or change much or really CLICK. Nothing BAD, but nothing desirable that pulls me towards it to spend my money. I could post a look from A/w 02 and then one from a/w 07 and probably nobody'd be able to tell the difference.

That being said, this collection looks like he's trying pretty hard... I just don't feel it at all.

I imagine this guy writing a bunch of clothing characteristics on pieces of paper (tuxedo, leather jacket, fair isle, wool coat, scarf), throwing them into a fishbowl, picking them out three at a time, and developing the ideas for the collection. I wonder how long it took to think this stuff up? 15 minutes?

Getting a slight Jil vibe from this collection. It's not as busy as his previous collections which is a good thing, no major sign of multi-zippers galore. However I do miss his distressed leather jackets.

I agree, pieces are all mostly very similar, not much color variation and lack of use of accessories

I have one of those beaten leather jackets by neil from 06' and yeah its like he was cool from 02 - 06' and then just started doing cookie cutter pieces of the same leather jackets ever since. It used to be
Neil Barrett made in Italy now its Neil Barrett made wherever...
I strongely dislike his look book of celebrities in his clothes. What a turn off!!
