It's true! Gareth Pugh IS taking over at Dior Homme. The rumours started when Delphine Arnault, the daughter of LVMH head honcho Bernard Arnault sat front row at his debut menswear show in Paris, and now we've heard from well placed sources backstage at Louise Goldin that it's a done deal. No official from LVMH yet but we're expecting the announcement that Gareth is taking over from Dior Homme's current designer Kris van Assche any day now.

I think this is great news. It will give Pugh the opportunity to learn the biz and how to assemble a collection and execute a vision from top to bottom. And a lot of young designers started working for major design houses.
KVA, well, I have not been a fan of his work (either for Dior or his eponymous label), but I give him credit for attempting to fill in the shoes that Slimane left.

Wow. This is news. Although I don't think Dior produced clothing "worthy of its stature" under Slimane (grunge just doesn't isn't an inherent factor of Dior) and although I'm one of the few supporters of Kris van Assche, I don't think he has done well at Dior Homme. I wonder if they'll relocate him to a different brand or if he'll just focus on the eponymous line.
As for Pugh at DH, I think the chance of a hit is definitely higher than that of a miss.
Of course this is still all just speculation; there was nothing concrete in that article except the title. An artist is not paid for his labor, but for his vision. - James Whistler

Originally posted by merzgentlemen, let us give gareth some benefit of the doubt until we see his DH collections. Although it is true that his flare for the dramatic took centre stage with his own line, it is very likely that the solid, inventive tailoring that formed the underlying structure of his menswear pieces will be more prominently featured under the Dior banner.Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months - Oscar Wilde

Hope he gets rid of the shiny aspect of his own line though. And I'm afraid DH will be getting the same hype as with Slimane once again.
Actually I don't blame KVA for doing a bad job at DH, but the people at LVMH who chose him after Slimane are guilty. They are the ones who really shoud get fucked for ruining everything that DH had become. They probably don't deserve to get DH back on the darker side of the force, but it sure sounds exciting for us to have Pugh there.Originally posted by blacksuitwow .. ccp bag is more better than guidi bag?
