Hm, in my experience I wouldn't say Yohji was popular in Nigeria at all. In fact, the only Nigerian I have seen wearing Yohji was one of the SAs at the Yohji store on Rue Cambon .

What made you ask anyway? Have you met a lot of Nigerians in Yohji?

Speaking of rich fat men, our rich guys here tend to be fat as well. What we do here though is wrap it all up in multiple folds of expensive fabric via an outfit known as the agbada or baba riga.

No reason why it can't, I am curious to know why it is. I can tell you why it's popular in Russia - the rich men there are usually fat and like to wear black.

    Hi Xeraphim,

Which fabrics of the hakama pants did you see in the stockist you went to? Would love to pick up the wool iteration for sure, but wondering what other fabrics have been used.

Can't wait until I can see the pieces in the flesh. Plan to be happily broke as well soon .

    Amen.

Spent a good amount of time in the fitting room at a local Yohji stockist recently; absolutely in love with ss12, but now also broke.

p.s. wire.artist, hakama pants are indeed a winner.

Regarding menswear, since 99 he's delivered his best collections ever, being aw08 ss00 ss12 extremely good if I may mention my favorites.
Couldn't agree more. Some of my favorite outerwear ever is from AW08. I would still buy more from that collection if it popped up more often.

i will accept that i have misused perfection in regarding yohji. I guess it is more that i have always seen his clothes as having a steady vision that he values rather than one that he simply feels safe using.

The last thing Yohji would ever be after is perfection.

i dont know i would have to disagree. I do think that Yohji has a clear vision and in some way it could be seen as a lack of creativity but i dont perceive it as such. I think that yohji is working with these same forms and silhouettes because he has found no way yet to perfect them, nor will he ever. As much as they may have been used throughout his body of work there is no such thing as perfection in fashion and i see Yohji as a designer less interested in making something "new" or "fresh" every season but rather as a person constantly trying to perfect the vision of what he wants his clothes to be.
