11 by Boris Bidjan Saberi x StyleZeitgeist Backpack

Last year we celebrated our 10th anniversary by collaborating with various designers whose work we have championed over the years. That was big. The 11th anniversary is by definition small, but the number means something to Boris Bidjan Saberi. And so we decided that this time we will do only one collaboration, with 11byBBS. We settled on another backpack style, since the last one was so very well-received. So, here it is, in a limited edition of 11, obviously. In addition to what you see, each backpack is embroidered and numbered. It also features a carabiner keychain that will only be released by 11byBBS in the next season. All the custom details were done at the BBS atelier in Barcelona.

Byronesque Brings Vintage Raf Simons, Helmut Lang, and Martin Margiela to Opening Ceremony

The curated vintage website Byronesque, run by Gill Linton, has landed at Opening Ceremony in New York. It is the first time that Byronesque presents menswear, capitalizing on the hot market for vintage Raf Simons and Helmut Lang. The pop-up store also includes some pieces from the short-lived cult London brand Vexed Generation, and a dedicated to room to Margiela’s iconic womenswear pieces. But Linton’s venture is not just about commerce – she sources what she loves, so we don’t expect her hawking vintage Hermes bags any time soon. “I was very careful not to have any filler here,” Linton told us when we visited the space yesterday. The pop-up will go on until July 23rd with stock replenished as rack space allows.

Give Good Gift 2016

Below is the 2016 edition of our holiday gift guide. Happy Holidays!

Shop:Case – Calculus, Victoria

Calculus is a concept store on Vancouver Island, a passion project of the Canadian born couple Graham & Ashleigh Newmarch.

Inspired by the live/work ateliers of its most admired designers, Calculus eschews the conventional structure of investor, creative director, buyer – and various associated staff.

As part of the StyleZeitgeist 10th Anniversary pop-up shop, we collaborated on the 2-piece capsule collection with the Australian label Song For the Mute, whose work we have championed since the label's inception. The collaboration combines the signature structure of Song for the Mute garments with a custom fabric developed exclusively for this collaboration. The handmade Japanese fabric execution of the Raised Neck Coat is a homage to the Peter Saville’s iconic ‘Unknown Pleasures’ album artwork for the post-punk band Joy Division.

Rick Owens New York Store Opening

This past weekend Rick Owens reopened his New York boutique on the corner of Crosby and Howard streets in Manhattan. This particular stretch of SoHo has exploded this year with the opening of the 11 Howard hotel and the adjacent interior design shop Oliver Gustav (which coincidentally carries furniture by Rick Owens). The former textile factory building was previously occupied by a Jil Sander store, and has undergone extensive renovations to reflect Owens’s universe.
