Ann Demeulemeester x SERAX Furniture Collection

After Belgian designer Ann Demeulemeester retired from fashion she kept busy, launching a collection of ceramic and glass tableware with Serax, a Belgian furnishings company. It debuted in 2019 to much critical acclaim.

But Demeulemeester already had further creative ambitions. After all, for a universe-maker, which Demeulemeester certainly is, it made total sense to take things further. The second step was a collection of lighting. And three years later after debuting the tableware, she and her long-term partner Patrick Robyn, have created a furniture line, also in collaboration with Serax.

The furniture continues Demeulemeester’s unique vision – clean lines, crisp, organic materials, a black and white color palette punctuated with a bit of subdued color feature in a lineup of tables, chairs, and couches, and it completes the picture of a total Demeulemeester home.

As with her fashion and her other creations, the new collection is an extension of Demeulemeester and Robyn themselves. The approach they took in designing the furniture is the same as they have done with everything else – they envisioned something that answered their esthetic and functional needs.

As such, the furniture carries the characteristics that have always preoccupied its creators – a play of light and shadow, a sense of tactility, and an ineffable sense of understated poetry.

Discover the full collection, which will be rolled out globally over the next year here.
