IC: One of Three CCP Leather Belt Rugs

This is an interest check as I do love this piece but have been saving towards another car to tinker on :)

Spring/Summer 2006 "U-Turn" Carol Christian Poell Showroom Piece

Official photo from the S/S 06 lookbook

Photo from the showroom (Thank you Runner!)

To give you an idea of the ridiculously large size

On the reverse you can see all the spots where the veins used to be. Really awesome. The belt rug can be coiled either way as the buckle is removable/reversible in place just like his regular belts.

Width-wise this is standard CCP belt width.

This is one of the very very very few art pieces that Carol produced pretty much for showroom usage only.

Aside from mine, I am only aware of two others that are owned by stores and not for sale (to my understanding). Lift has one and KH has one... and me.

This thing is HUGE. Fully set up, the diameter is probably around five feet.

Precision cut from a large single, flawless, belt thickness hide, this thing spirals on itself all the way to the center with a token belt buckle hole. Carol's signature belt buckle is at the outer end and the leather underside is embossed with "Carol Christian Poell SAFE".

Constructed then object dyed a beautiful gray. The tones and textures within are really amazing. Hints of whites, browns and the full range of grays. The top was then polished with the reverse remaining sueded.

This piece is no joke and for collectors only. Featured as the backdrop to the permanent Carol Christian Poell virtual exhibit at the Mak Austrian Contemporary Art Museum in Vienna.

Like the giant leather glove that Carol also created, these art pieces round out his concepts for each season and present another facet to his design and approach.

Asking $3500 OBO and shipping is inclusive if you live in the US!

It's large, it's heavy, shipping won't be too cheap if you're international, but you'll have something that no other individual owns and is something really quite special from the mind of Carol.

Let me know if you're interested!

I can't believe you're even considering the sale of this thing. Calling all hardcore CCP fan-ballers to kop. This is a straight up archive piece.

            Hey Albert,

Best of luck with the sale. Although I hope this stays with you.

And sorry to hear about the hassles with insurance. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help. Hope it all gets resolved soon!!

            Best, Josh

Oh, man. I so desperately want you to keep it, but I'm sure if it does go it will go into the right hands (and obviously for all the right reasons). Good luck!

Only if I wasn't going back to school right now, this sounds like an amazing piece to hang up on a wall. Or maybe it's not possible? How about a layaway plan???

I'll post showroom photos along with photos of the piece in my home this evening along with detail shots.

It's definitely an interest check and pretty much depends on if the other sides insurance company wants to drag this settlement out or not. Good condition Ghias don't come around often and I'm in talks for one right now... it'd almost be a straight up trade of the belt for the car and only one of them can get me to the hospital in 15 minutes ;)

bare feet only.... it's never been a living room centerpiece but a piece that is set up in my studio room so pretty much only my girlfriend and I ever have walked on it. No way I'd want shoes on this piece!

That being said, it's in pristine condition :)

As for hanging, it won't stay in a clean spiral if you were to do so, but the result could be interesting. If you wanted to mount it, you'd have to sandwich between glass or anchor it somehow in shape prior to hanging. It would look amazing under glass or placed under a glass square coffee table.
