Very cool, laika, thanks for posting.
By the way, Issey Miyake in Tribeca carries Naoki's own line. I was so impressed that they support him after he went on his own. It's one of those incredibly rare fashion integrity moments . [64]Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months - Oscar Wilde

Re: Naoki Takizawa F/W 08-09
Thanks so much for posting, laika!
This really struck a chord with me - especially the link you posted. I think it's beautiful to see the fruits of someone combining the old (artisanal techniques) with the new (innovative fabrics).
Since last season, Naoki has been reflecting on what interests him the
most and how to express and find his own identity. He discovered what
really interests him is the craft and the value and the importance of
doing things by hand. Although traditional techniques and precise
tailoring are essential to Naoki he has also spent his career
researching innovative ways to develop different textiles.
let us raise a toast to ancient cotton, rotten voile, gloomy silk, slick carf, decayed goat, inflamed ram, sooty nelton, stifling silk, lazy sheep, bone-dry broad & skinny baffalo.

Re: Naoki Takizawa F/W 08-09
agreed, feather print has some great details
A delicate feather motif is drawn by hand with a metal brush
traditionally used in the ancient technique of kimono painting from
Kyoto. One jacket made of the finest gauge of polyester is then layered
with a transparent veil. In other words, the feathers are not painted
on the surface of the garment but are drawn on the layer of fabric
under the protective transparent veil.

RSG paging Laika, please pick up the white courtesy telephone.
I think you will be Ok - the clothes, although incredibly made, seemed somehow for the older crowd. Worth checking out though, that's for sure.Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months - Oscar Wilde

although not something I can personally identify with, i can definitely appreciate the dedication and technique used to create the piece.
i do enjoy the lines on this jacket too.

I think some of those dresses with sort of assymetrically folded pleats sparkled with gold reminiscent of fishgills would look incredible on a vast number of women. I like how he immitates natural elements and is not affraid of showing delicately imperfect dresses.Selling CCP, Harnden, Raf, Rick etc.

Is there a bidding war going on in the back? Take a look at the background. The guy on the right is saying, "lets mass produce this!!!" And the gentlemen on the left crossing his arms pondering whether he should set this fine fellow up with his daughter. [86][86][86]
