mrbeuys: I guess you hit the nail! That´s something in between. Not directly Shoreditch and not directly Hampstead, though I heard only nice things about Hampstead till now. Since I don´t have kids yet I don´t want to move into a London Prenzlauerberg or Grunewald - that´s what it probably would be called in Berlin ;)

The overground train from Dalston to Hampstead is a stunner! Do you mind if I get back to you in case I really should hunt down a place in Dalston? You probably can tell me second to none which area / street is preferable there and which not....

Not sure I am an authority on Dalston but happy to help. PM me.
Hi. I like your necklace. - It's actually a rape whistle, but the whistle part fell off.

LN-CC is in Dalston. Fair warning for your wallet. And Mangal II, which I still haven't gone to, which apparently is an oversight.

                E, we should make a bet that I won´t enter LN-CC more often than let´s say 15 times a month ;D ;D ;D

I think Shoreditch is more like Kreuzburg than Mitte and a bit overpriced.

Mangal is always worth a visit. The mixed grill is out of this world.

And don't forget Hostem on Redchurch street. A guarranteed wallet killer.

Not that I'm an expert on either city, but I always figured mitte=shoreditch and neukoln=dalston

If you also want cheaper than Dalston, try parts of lower Clapton and Stoke Newington / Stamford Hill. I live in Stoke Newington, and I can walk to Dalston in about 10 minutes. De Beauvoir can be pretty nice as well, but it's a little pricier. If you don't mind sharing, £750 will get you a room and cover bills no problem.

If that's true, I must have frequented all the wrong places in Mitte.

I need to have some basic alterations done on a couple of jackets. Anyone know of any decent and not too expensive tailors around Covent Garden/Holborn or close to London Bridge?

Know a decent one in Soho. And have just been given details of good one in Mayfair who alters CCP. PM me for details if you want.
