Planning on finally reading Swann's Way by Proust this weekend. Been meaning to read some Proust for a while, but I never seem to get around to it. Set aside a couple of hours to curl up and get into it though :) Although, I kinda wish I knew French so I wouldn't have to read a translation.

“Do you like the Stooges?” Michel Houellebecq asked me on the second day of our interview. He put down his electric cigarette (it glowed red when he inhaled, producing steam instead of smoke) and rose slowly from his futon couch. “Iggy Pop wrote some songs based on my novel Th...

Re-reading The Land of Laughs by Jonathan Carroll. Among the best of the "magic realism" genre. Though I'm not too fond of that so called genre title.

A bizarre little book and highly recommended if only for the ending.

Quite interesting so far. Some of the texts of the time sound quite modern actually, which is appropriate, since Art Nouveau was called "Modern Style" at the time - in Paris anyway

Read "Just Kids" by Patti Smith over the weekend. It's a very pretty book, gave me the same feeling as watching "Dream of life". A little self-indulgent perhaps, but very sincere. And I like how similar Patti Smith's influences are similar to those I had during my formative years. Basically my teenage self wanted to be Patti without knowing it, it's cute. I guess nostlgia's the word

Needless to say, I don't go out much these days.

I also reopened L'écriture et la différence after a long pause, I'm quite excited.

It wasn't. Doing research for a new class. One of those cases where the film was infinitely better than the book.
