Once Hedi got there and filled the atelier fridge with baby food, and put my band is cooler than your band on the stereo, he discovered all that Stefano left in the studio was a pair of tit-high, felt loon-pants.
apparently he is designing from LA, which is pretty bizarre considering in an interview he said he could never design outside of paris. also, i am under the impression that he probably had most of the first collection designed prior to signing.

First time round Hedi was unburdened with expectation. He gained momentum over a number of collections. Also, news moved and opinions formed at a slower pace. Today, the risk is that it is all over before it begins.

This roll out looks very well thought out. The most committed constituency are the retailers, so give them the exclusive.

Phase two will be interesting. Who are the opinion formers in this new media age? Do you identify and work them, or do you just get the product right out there?

      I'm guessing the latter.

saw this picture today referring Hedi changing the branding to just Saint Laurent....I don't know why I would expect anything different but also changing it all to Helvetica. Really, his work design and photography work has been the same thing since early 2000s, and starting to really think his fashion work won't be different either. At the time it was great, brilliant work, but I just don't think it'll work out still for too long.

The YSL logo has become so iconic, this does nothing for me.

Looks like my sloppy mock up wasn't too far off...

This feels very retrogressive to me. Now there's talk of revisiting couture?

Maybe he should drop 'Laurent' as well.

After getting knocked around a bit during his years as the designer of Yves Saint Laurent, Stefano Pilati has landed at Ermenegildo Zegna.

The first sentence of that blog post is questionable.

So, judging by this I am not expecting any surprises. Which makes sense - why would we expect a surprise from Hedi, whose aesthetic is clearly set.
