"Tiffany's" was excellent but "A Christmas Memory" surprised me the most, really sweet and poignant.

let us raise a toast to ancient cotton, rotten voile, gloomy silk, slick carf, decayed goat, inflamed ram, sooty nelton, stifling silk, lazy sheep, bone-dry broad & skinny baffalo.

my books are all jammed into an old cabinet. overflowing really. it's nothing exciting to see.

i'm about to pick up the ruined map by kobo abe again. i was thoroughly confused the first time through. i've got the film to watch afterwards. zatoichi playing a private eye... interesting.

Gotta say, I loved this book, The Child Thief by Brom. Think of it as a Peter Pen story with a dark twist. After I read the first paragraph I knew I was hooked. Bitchin' art too, I mean...check out those legging!

I thought you'd be the last person to read Hemingway!

Yeah, I had read the old man and the sea as a kid like everyone else but decided to check out a few of his novels.

Taking the plunge and reading my first foreign language book. Not as difficult as I feared, given that so many philosophical terms sound the same in spanish and english.

Fernando Zalamea's Razón de la frontera y fronteras de la razón
"He described this initial impetus as like discovering that they both were looking at the same intriguing specific tropical fish, with attempts to understand it leading to a huge ferocious formalism he characterizes as a shark that leapt out of the tank."

Fuuma, Hemingway is essential reading if you speak English!

Just finished Requiem for a Dream. Now plowing through Tropic of Cancer.

the old man and the sea gets a grilling. fuck all y'all cause i like it.

dunno if it's overlooked or just outdated, but i loved death in the afternoon. a novel of hemingway talking about bullfighting with some imaginary conversations and a smattering of pictures.

Found a great early edition of the Fountainhead at a flea market! It feels good to flirt with Dominique Francon again ...
