        Checking in... current heavy rotation:

Ghédalia Tazartès -- Tazartès and Tazartès Transports
I think my most enjoyed musical discovery of the year. Actually remember reading a piece on him in the Wire a few years back and being interested but never following through. Came across him again while sniffing around the Alga Marghen catalog and have been loving it since. NWW-listed, indescribable musique concrète // trance // tape manipulation // whatchamacallit... my head is still not anywhere near wrapped around this stuff but I love it so.

        Kriegshög -- s/t
Heavy, fast Japanese hardcore, a genre I've just really started exploring not too long ago. I have the advantage of so much internet discussion to help me cherry pick stuff. This is a good cherry bomb.

        Scientists -- Human Jukebox
Now that it's fall and my mind is slowly repairing the shorts caused by the peaks of heat, humidity and insect density that get me fugged every year, I can actually break out the swamp rock and enjoy the mud and squalor from afar. I swear someday I'll be able to do this in situ even if it means surgical removal of my sweat glands.

Brainbombs -- Burning Hell, Singles Collection and Urge to Kill
Love it. In spite of a lot of kudos heaped on this band over the past few years, I avoided listening for really no good reason... I guess 'cuz I like buying vinyl and the lps were all super expensive on the used market? Well, thanks reissue campaigns! Misanthropic and hilarious and not really what I thought it would sound like, but very much exceeding my expectations.
I think they're easily the number one punk item.

I finally found a perfect copy of the first press.

Ambient Temple of Imagination: ATOI (Plague Recordings 2010).

A chant, the gathering of the tribe… What are they debating? A wind blows over the field, connection with nature establishes. Quietude, forebearance… Insecurity. Second breath, marching in the fields, to go along in peace, with meaning, high spirits, flow. Then confrontation, challenge, fright – but never fight, no… Concilation… A common quest, for mutual enhance. The soothing voice from heaven, the answer, fusioned with nature, the origin. Bliss.

The organic development of this album is very impressive. I have to disregard the track titles – to me this is a tribal quest on the marchlands of archaic Peru. Striking is also the fact that the music really consists of different tracks, that it isn't a live set. It's superbly mixed.
